One Big Table Across America is a series of events that celebrate American home cooking, support local agriculture, and prove that community begins when people gather around a table to eat, drink, talk, laugh, and dream.
We are committed to building a table across America, one feast at a time.
Our events feature local cooks, farmers, foragers, fishermen, ranchers, and food artisans. Each event benefits a farmer’s market or other grassroots cultural organization. The money raised by the meals remains in the community where it was raised. The experience of producing these events gives small community organizations the experience it takes to create a tradition of annual local fundraising dinners.
We focus primarily on markets in small towns and economically challenged urban neighborhoods.
Each event also contributes to the ongoing effort to locate, celebrate, and document the nation’s best home cooks. This effort preserves a precious part of American culture in books, web content, television, and other broadcast media.
One Big Table Across America is a project of the National Parks of New York Harbor Conservancy and is a tax-exempt initiative.
